How to Write a CV That Gets Noticed by UAE Recruiters in 2025

29-04-2026

The UAE job market is highly competitive, with thousands of international candidates applying for the same roles. Here's how to make your CV stand out — from a recruiter's perspective.

Lead with a strong professional summary

The first 4–5 lines of your CV determine whether a recruiter reads on. Your summary should state your role, years of experience, key industry, and one or two standout achievements. Avoid generic phrases like 'results-driven professional' — be specific. For example: 'Finance Manager with 8 years of experience in UAE banking, specialising in regulatory reporting and a track record of reducing month-end close from 10 days to 5.'

Quantify your achievements, not just your duties

Recruiters see hundreds of CVs listing responsibilities. What makes a CV memorable is outcomes. Instead of 'managed the sales team', write 'managed a team of 12 sales executives, growing regional revenue from AED 4.2M to AED 7.8M in two years.' Numbers make your contribution tangible and credible.

UAE-specific details that matter

Always include your visa status (residence visa, visit visa, or currently outside the UAE), as this significantly affects your hire timeline and cost to an employer. Mention your nationality, as some roles have specific hiring preferences. If you have a UAE driving licence, include it — it is relevant for most mid-to-senior roles. Salary expectations in AED are expected by most UAE recruiters.

Common CV mistakes that cost you interviews

The most frequent errors we see include CVs longer than 3 pages without substantial experience to justify it, missing contact details (WhatsApp is the primary recruiter communication channel in UAE), listing roles without dates, using a non-professional email address, and submitting a generic CV without tailoring it to the specific role. Each of these reduces your chances of being shortlisted.
